Real Madrid could reignite interest in Man United star following World Cup exploits

Real Madrid are seemingly on the hunt for their next galactico and according to reports, Manchester United’s midfield maestro Bruno Fernandes is a player of interest.

The 28-year-old has been one of the standout players at this winter’s World Cup, becoming one of several United stars to enjoy sparkling campaigns with their respective countries.

United signed Fernandes from Sporting CP in 2020 and the Portugal international became an immediate fan-favourite at Old Trafford.

The Old Trafford club were not alone in courting Fernandes in 2020, however, if reports from Portugal are to be believed. According to Record, via Sport Witness, Real Madrid were tracking him before he joined United.

As per the report, the Spanish giants are still interested in Fernandes and could soon make their move for the player. It is, however, that although Fernandes is ‘satisfied and complete’ at United, he has not closed the door on potentially joining the Los Blancos.

Furthermore, Real Madrid are among other clubs as interested parties but Carlo Ancelotti’s side is the only one named in this report.

SN’s verdict…
Fernandes’ outstanding performances for Portugal at the World Cup are going to attract rumours but realistically, the chances of United selling him are very low.

He signed a new long-term deal earlier this year and United are under no pressure to sell. His decision to sign that deal also hints that a move is not something he is planning.
