Manchester United have been linked with a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Erik ten Hag began his rebuilding process last summer and fans will hope he gets the chance to continue that with one or two additions in January. Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Antony all signed in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils need a goalscorer and that demand has only increased following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit earlier this month. A right-back is also required to provide cover for Diogo Dalot, although there has been whispers that Ethan Laird could return from his loan spell at QPR if there is a change of management at Loftus Road.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, United are monitoring the progress of Real Sociedad star Zubimendi. The 23-year-old is attracting interest throughout Europe after establishing himself as a regular for the La Liga outfit.

Zubimendi’s current deal at La Real runs until 2027, so they won’t be under any pressure to sell him in January or next summer, unless his release clause (€60m) is met.

I think there is room for another midfield addition at United since Donny van de Beek is unlikely to have a future at the club. There are doubts over Fred too.
