Cody Gakpo’s agents are already working on a ‘potential transfer’ with the forward expected to leave PSV in 2023, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United could be one club in the running for his signature, after coming close to agreeing a deal over the summer. The player shares the same agents as Erik ten Hag, so negotiations may swing in the favour of United and a deal may be easier to accelerate.

Gakpo is also currently managed by former Red Ruud van Nistelrooy at PSV, one of United’s most prolific goalscorers and a fan-favourite amongst the Old Trafford faithful. Whilst the decision would ultimately be up to the striker, the Dutchman would likely rather see one of his players depart for his former club than a rival, like Liverpool.

Gakpo’s form this season

The 23-year-old is expected to be more expensive than he would have been in the summer, as his form has been outstanding since the start of the season; 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 appearances.

He has also netted two goals in two matches for the Netherlands at the World Cup, proving his prolific ability on the world’s biggest stage.
