Lisandro Martinez keeps clean sheet in Argentina’s crunch World Cup clash

The Manchester United centre-back played the full 90 minutes for his national team in a must-win match.

Argentina saw out a 2-0 win at the Lusail Stadium thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez. They are now in second place in Group C and face another crunch tie in their final group-stage match with Poland on Wednesday, November 30.

Poland leads the group with four points, with Argentina alongside Saudi Arabia with three points.

It was Martinez’s first World Cup start, which he sealed with a win, a clean sheet and another dominant performance – lightwork for the Butcher.

He is now proving his abilities on the world’s biggest stage and making United fans even more thankful he’s a Red.

United players in Qatar will have a week off

Whenever he, and the other United players, return from the World Cup, they will be granted seven days of rest by Erik ten Hag.

Next in line to feature are Casemiro and Fred for the Selecao on Monday. Antony is a doubt after missing two training sessions.
