Casemiro breaks silence on Ronaldo exit and insists United players are sad he is leaving

Manchester United summer signing Casemiro has weighed in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the club.

The Red Devils announced last week that the forward would be leaving with “immediate effect” following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

The decision came after Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, in which he detailed his lack of respect for Erik ten Hag, as well as made allegations regarding the club, the owners and former teammates.

Now, United will be forced to act in the January transfer window to bring in reinforcements for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Their forward department is already significantly depleted, with only Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford filling the out-and-out striker role.

Casemiro has shared his thoughts on the situation whilst on international duty with Brazil at the World Cup. The 30-year-old played with Ronaldo throughout their time at Real Madrid, during which they made history by winning three consecutive Champions Leagues.

Casemiro has his say on Ronaldo’s departure

He said (via Sky Sports): “I haven’t exchanged any messages with him, but Cristiano Ronaldo is a player with great experience and he knows what’s best for his career.

“Of course, we’re sad a player like him is leaving because we are talking about one of the best players of all time, but I wish him all the best in his football career, except when he plays against me – but I wish him all the best.”
