Stadium project could take Manchester United 7-8 years

Old Trafford is one of the most iconic stadiums in world football but there is no denying that the famous old ground has become a symbol of the decay and lack of vision of the Glazer family, who have spent the past 17-years leaching off the club.

With Manchester United up for sale, any potential buyer will have a lot of issues to fix once a takeover is complete, including stadium and training ground redevelopment which could add an additional £1 billion to the cost of the club.

It remains to be seen if anyone interested in a takeover has the pockets to pull it off, or if they will put their money where their mouth is…

A report from The Telegraph suggests that there will be huge headaches to contend with down the line because a new stadium on a redeveloped site with new attractions would take seven to eight years to build.

That’s a long project and United need someone to come in and put the club’s best interests at heart. After years of decay under the Glazers, it’s not going to be a quick fix when we get rid of them.

A new stadium, if that is what they want, would need to provide an indelible link to the past.

I think that goes without saying as a club proud of its traditions.
