(Video) Cristiano Ronaldo scores first goal since controversial Man United exit

Cristiano Ronaldo is in action for the first time since his controversial exit from Manchester United earlier this week as the 37-year-old led his nation out against Ghana in the World Cup.

Earlier on Thursday, the other game in Portugal’s group ended 0-0 between Uruguay and South Korea, giving Fernando Santos’ side a perfect opportunity to grab a stranglehold of the standings.

After a sombre first half, Portugal found the breakthrough 20 minutes into the restart. Ronaldo went down and won a penalty before dispatching it perfectly, as seen below.

The goal means that Ronaldo has broken yet another goalscoring record, with his strike meaning that he has become the first player to score in five different World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022).

Bruno Fernandes is also in action for his country after being named in the starting line-up, with Diogo Dalot on the bench.
