Cristiano Ronaldo set to be sacked by United after explosive interview

Manchester United have started the process of terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

The two-part special saw the 37-year-old make allegations towards Erik ten Hag, the Glazers, his teammates and the club.

According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo has burnt his bridges with the hierarchy at United and they have now begun the legal process of tearing up his contract.

The club’s lawyers believe the Portugal international has breached the terms of his contract. They will not pay any compensation to the forward, meaning he will miss out on the remaining £16 million from the final months of his deal.

United had initially updated supporters earlier in the week by saying they would not comment until the full interview had aired, and have since released a club statement this morning, saying: “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comments until this process reaches its conclusion.”

Stretty News’ verdict

Ronaldo could have left in the summer and saved what was remaining of his ‘legacy’ at the club. However, his antics this season and now this interview have destroyed his reputation amongst fans.

United supporters are not going to accept disrespect towards the manager and former players, when you yourself cannot be bothered to sit through matches to support your teammates and see out games with the fans.

Toxicity is the last thing Ten Hag needs as he tries to unite the players and fans and get United back to where they belong. He is the man to do it, not a striker that’s nearing 40.
