(Video) Cristiano Ronaldo admits he was close to joining Manchester City

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United is looking bleak and he’s increasingly unlikely to remain at the club past this winter’s World Cup break.

The 37-year-old has thrown his future into doubt after several discrepancies over the last couple of weeks, with his recent interview with TV presenter Piers Morgan potentially seen as the final straw.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the rest of the United squad wanted to see Ronaldo go after he heavily criticised the club and the manager this week.

Now, in the latest snippet from Morgan’s 90-minute interview with Ronaldo, the forward has revealed that he was close to joining rivals Manchester City before eventually sealing a return. to Old Trafford.

“Honestly, it was close. It was close,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan Uncensored, as seen above.

“It’s something that they spoke a lot. Guardiola said two weeks ago, I guess, that they try hard to have me. But as you know, as my history in Manchester United, your heart, your feelings, the way the history that you did before makes the difference. And of course, Sir Alex Ferguson.

“I was surprised in the same way but it was a conscious decision because the heart is speaking loud in that moment.”

Ronaldo has scored 27 goals in all competitions since returning to the club last year but it is increasingly possible that he has played his final game for the Reds.
