Jamie Carragher trolls former Manchester United trio after Ronaldo outburst

Jamie Carragher believes that only “one per cent” of Manchester United fans will support Cristiano Ronaldo after Sunday’s plea for attention.

The 37-year-old gave an explosive interview to Piers Morgan, which airs on Wednesday and Thursday via Talk TV, during which he said he felt betrayed by Manchester United.

This comes a week after Ronaldo was handed the captain’s armband for the 3-1 defeat away to Aston Villa.

Usually, the captain speaks after a defeat, but Ronaldo remained tight-lipped until snippets of his big interview were released on social media.

It is understood that Erik ten Hag and his players were left extremely disappointed by the timing and manner of Ronaldo’s outburst.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has hit out at Ronaldo again by suggesting he is losing the support and love he had from United fans by behaving poorly. He also took the opportunity to hit out at other former players turned pundits — Rio Ferdinand, Roy Keane and Patrice Evra — for defending Ronaldo in recent times.

Carragher tweeted: “Ronaldo under ETH [Erik ten Hag]: Announced he wanted to leave, refused to come on as a substitute, walked off the bench & left before the game had finished.

“99 per cent of United fans will be on the side of ETH, which shows how badly Ronaldo has handled this.”

He added: “The one per cent will be Rio, Roy & Patrice…”
