Confirmed Manchester United XI vs Fulham: Elanga, Martial and Rashford in attack

Anthony Martial starts for Manchester United against Fulham in their final game before the World Cup.

The forward started his first game since recovering from injury during the week and Erik ten Hag has wasted no time throwing him into the line-up again. Martial isn’t heading to the World Cup so he won’t be worried about any knocks or niggles if a goalscoring opportunity presents itself.

Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from the squad that travelled to London on Saturday. It is believed that he has been ruled out through illness ahead of the World Cup.

On top of that, Erik ten Hag is without Antony and Jadon Sancho in attack.

David de Gea gets the nod between the posts after Ten Hag awarded Martin Dubravka his debut midweek.

Tyrell Malacia replaces the suspended Diogo Dalot at right-back, while Luke Shaw will operate on the opposite flank. Ten Hag has also opted to selection Victor Lindelof ahead of Harry Maguire to partner Lisandro Martinez.

Casemiro returns to midfield along with Christian Eriksen. This will allow Bruno Fernandes to take up his usual position further forward – instead of being pushed out wide on the right.

The front three consists of Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

It must be a worry for Facundo Pellistri to miss out on a place in today’s squad – given the list of attacking players unavailable to Ten Hag. He wasn’t seen leaving Manchester with the squad on Saturday and was an unused substitute in the last 12 games, yet he is still going to the World Cup after making Uruguay’s 26-man squad.

Manchester United XI: De Gea; Malacia, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Elanga, Martial, Rashford.

Come on United!
