Man United trio make Portugal’s World Cup squad

This winter’s World Cup is edging closer and Manchester United will play just two more games before the season is broken for five weeks.

The majority of Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad will be departing with their respective nations later this month and earlier today, it was confirmed at three players will be going on the plane with England.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford have been called up by Gareth Southgate but there was no place for Jadon Sancho.

That followed the news that United will be the team most represented in the Brazil national team at this year’s tournament in Qatar, with four Reds called up by manager Tite. Casemiro, Fred, Antony and Alex Telles (on loan at Sevilla) have all been called up.

Now, it has been confirmed that another three United players have made Portugal’s World Cup squad. Portugal revealed their 26-man squad for the tournament on Thursday.

Diogo Dalot, who has started every single competitive game for United this season, has been called up and will be eyeing a place in the starting line-up.

Bruno Fernandes is also in and Cristiano Ronaldo will captain his nation in what is possibly his final major tournament at international level.
