Erik ten Hag: When you walk around Carrington, you smell football

Erik ten Hag has given his verdict on what it means to be manager of Manchester United.

The Dutchman admitted that it was a “challenge” to get the club back where they need to be.

Since taking over, Ten Hag has formed a strong connection with the United faithful for the refreshing philosophy he has instilled at the club. He has overseen triumphant wins so far in his managerial reign, namely Liverpool,  Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The boss signed players over the summer that have been instrumental to the club’s boost in form. Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Antony and Tyrell Malacia have all started matches for the Red Devils and proved their with already.

Ten Hag is feeling optimistic at United

The manager has set his sights on restoring success in the red side of Manchester, and he will have supporters’ backing however long it takes. In an interview with MUTV, he said: “It is a challenge, and I like challenges. When you walk around Carrington, you smell football. When you are with Manchester United, no matter where you are in the world – mundial – there is always a lot of attention.

“You know you are here at one of the biggest clubs in the world and we want to be the biggest. That is a great challenge and I like it. It gives me energy and I want to give everything in my power to get us back where we belong and that is on the top of the world.”
