Woeful Reds fall at Villa Park: player ratings from Aston Villa 3-1 Man United

Manchester United run of nine unbeaten games has come to an end after succumbed to a convincing 3-1 win to Aston Villa, with Unai Emery earning a win in his first game in charge of the Birmingham club.

Erik ten Hag made just one change from the side that won at Real Sociedad earlier this week, with Marcus Rashford replacing the suspended Bruno Fernandes.

Aston Villa started the game as the better side and after claiming a two-goal lead after roughly 15 minutes, United never looked like getting back into it.

Man United Player Ratings

David de Gea – 6
Couldn’t do much about any of the goals.

Diogo Dalot – 5
Energetic as always but struggled at both ends of the pitch.

Victor Lindelof – 3
Completely bullied by Ollie Watkins all afternoon.

Lisandro Martinez – 4
His worst game for United – partly at fault for two of the goals.

Luke Shaw – 5
It was his strike that ended up in the Villa net but lacked intensity throughout.

Christian Eriksen – 4
Some good balls over the top but didn’t really impact the game.

Casemiro – 5
Half of United’s midfield and unfortunately, the only half to cover any space.

Marcus Rashford – 5
There’s very little he can do on the right wing and that was on display against Villa.

Donny van de Beek – 2
Looks completely disinterested whenever he plays. The only surprise was that he lasted over 60 minutes before Ten Hag took him off.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7
The only inventive player for United on the day.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 4
He keeps trying but he’s not doing any of the things you want from your striker.
