Manchester United had interest in Newcastle’s Manuel Almiron

Manchester United previously showed an interest in signing Miguel Almiron before he joined Newcastle United.

The Paraguayan signed for Newcastle in 2019 but this season his goalscoring contributions have increased under Eddie Howe, managing seven goals in the Premier League. He has already eclipsed his total for the last two season’s combined with the South American now just one goal off equalling his best tally for the Magpies.

Along with the better form Almiron is showing this season, his agent wants everyone to know that Arsenal and Manchester United were interested in his services before he moved to England. All in attempt to raise his client’s profile in the game.

“There was interest shown by Manchester United in Miguel but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for him but we did not want it to be a loan,” said Daniel Campos, speaking to ABC Cardinal, as per Manchester Evening News.

I think it’s pretty significant that United never made an offer because the club shows an interest in hundreds of players every year.

Even though Almiron is happy at Newcastle, as they sit in the Champions League places, it will take a lot to be there come May.

Erik ten Hag’s side are on the verge of pushing into that top four and we hope to be pushing even harder in the new year after the World Cup.

Arsenal may sit on top for now but they won’t stay there.
