Former Juventus coach: Man Utd must have known about Pogba’s injury before transfer

Former Juventus coach Luigi Maifredi has shifted the blame onto Manchester United for overseeing Paul Pogba’s transfer to Juventus despite his injury struggles.

Pogba returned to Juventus in the summer after his second spell at United ended somewhat dissatisfying. Having signed the Frenchman for £89 million in 2016, he departed the club on a free transfer. He won the League Cup and Europa League throughout his time in Manchester.

Since signing for the Serie A side, Pogba is yet to play a competitive game. He has been sidelined with an injury since his arrival and it was confirmed yesterday that Pogba will miss the forthcoming World Cup tournament in Qatar. He won the trophy in 2018 with France, who will also be without midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Juventus are in poor form this season; they sit in seventh place in the league and failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages for the first time since the 2013/2014 campaign.

Maifredi claims United knew of Pogba’s fitness issues

Former Juve coach, Maifredi, has expressed his concerns regarding the Italian side. He told TuttoMercattoWeb: “Behind the failure of the Juventus team there is also the poor performance of the transfer campaign. Then let’s face it, if Manchester [United] gives Pogba away so easily, they must have [known] something. There are consequences for Juventus.”

  1. there was no ‘transfer’ Pogbab was a free agent. we got no fee, tbh i’d have paid to be rid of him

  2. Juventus got him back for free they cannot complain about his injury prone situations. His star imploded 3 years ago when his ego over took his talent.
