Saturday’s Premier League matches saw Manchester United’s top-four rivals Chelsea beaten 4-1 by Brighton & Hove Albion.

In Graham Potter’s first return to Brighton since joining Chelsea, he was comfortably overturned by his replacement, Roberto De Zerbi.

In United’s quest for the Champions League places results like these need to be capitalised on by Erik ten Hag and his side. If United are able to beat West Ham at Old Trafford tomorrow, they will be only one point behind Newcastle in fourth – having played one less game.

United’s forthcoming run of games compared to their neighbours in the table are considerably more favourable; the Reds face West Ham, Aston Villa and Fulham before the World Cup.

Fixture list favours Manchester United

Spurs will face Liverpool next week and Chelsea will face league leaders Arsenal, they then travel to St James’ Park to face the in-form Magpies. The clash could benefit United significantly should they win their remaining fixtures.

West Ham are on the back of a 2-0 heading into the clash at Old Trafford tomorrow, whilst the Reds played out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Entering the World Cup break in the top four is essential for United. It sets the morale for the manager, players and fans as we wait for our beloved club football to return.
