Erik ten Hag made it his priority to strengthen Manchester United’s midfield over the summer and it was to very little surprise that the Dutchman brought in two world-class players.
Christian Eriksen and Casemiro both joined over the summer and both players are already integral players to the system Ten Hag has implemented at Old Trafford.
There are, however, concerns over their ages and they will need to be replaced sooner rather than later. That could mean that United are already planning to make a long-term signing in that area.
Now, there are suggestions that Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams is a player United are looking at. That’s according to Football Insider, who say that the Reds are watching the American midfielder with a keen eye.
Adams joined Leeds from RB Leipzig over the summer and as per the report, United’s interest is far from new and stretches back to his days in the Bundesliga.
It’s claimed that Adams has been shortlisted by Old Trafford officials as they continue to line up potential midfield recruits for the future.
SN’s verdict…
It goes without saying that Adams has impressed since making the move to Leeds but a move to United would be a huge step up and you must wonder whether it’s too early for the 23-year-old.
Furthermore, Leeds will be reluctant to do business with United. That has already been showcased with their sale of Kalvin Phillips, who is now a bit-part player at Manchester City.
