Manchester United join race for AC Milan goalkeeper

AC Milan’s Mike Maignan has become the latest goalkeeper to get linked with a move to Manchester United.

As one of the highest rated keepers in world football, it doesn’t surprise us at a time David de Gea’s contract is running out. The Red Devils may have to prioritise signing a keeper in the coming months.

FC Porto keeper Diogo Costa is another option that is a popular choice among United fans, however, Maignan would be an even better option.

According to Calciostyle, United have entered the race to sign Maignan, but they will face stiff competition for his signature.

Unlike De Gea, the 27-year-old is renowned for playing out from the back and he was a crucial part of Milan’s Serie A winning side last season.

De Gea is improving

Say what you like about De Gea, but he has improved a number of aspects to his game this season under Erik ten Hag. From coming off his line to playing out from the back, we have seen the Spaniard taken from his comfort zone and the results have been good.

Long may it continue but United still need to sort of his contract – even if he is to stay at the club.

De Gea shouldn’t be the highest paid keeper in the world.
