Manchester United recovered from a late goal at Stamford Bridge to spark bedlam in the away end as Casemiro’s incredible header rescued a point for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Ten Hag named just one change from the side that comfortably beat Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week, with Christian Eriksen replacing Fred in the midfield.

United dominated the entire first half and they were unlucky to go into half-time without at least two goals, never mind just one.

After the interval, Chelsea started to get involved and by the time the clock was approaching 90 minutes, it felt like a draw would have been a fair result. Unfortunately, newly-introduced Scott McTominay’s grab on Armando Broja was deemed to be a penalty.

With roughly two minutes left to play of additional time, United would get the goal they had deserved, however, with Casemiro’s perfectly glanced header narrowly crossing the line.

Man United Player Ratings

David de Gea – 7
Didn’t have all that much to do in the game. Can’t blame him for not saving the penalty.

Diogo Dalot – 8
Kept his good form up and is proving why he’s so essential.

Raphael Varane – 7
Flawless up until his injury and it looked like a bad one. Hopefully it won’t keep him out of the World Cup.

Lisandro Martinez – 8
Yet another dominant performance from the Argentine.

Luke Shaw – 7
Again, didn’t really put a foot wrong on that many occasions.

Casemiro – 10
United’s best player on the day and it’s not even close.

Christian Eriksen – 7
He’s recovering from an illness and perhaps that was a contributing factor but the Dane did not enjoy one of his better outings. First 30 minutes were good, however.

Jadon Sancho – 4
Really struggling at the moment and that seat on the plane to Qatar is looking unlikely.

Bruno Fernandes – 7
Keeps things ticking over nicely.

Antony – 7
Feels like it’s impossible to push him off the ball – great addition to the squad.

Marcus Rashford – 6
Worked hard but found it difficult playing alone against three centre-backs.
