Graham Potter predicts tough game against Manchester United

Chelsea manager Graham Potter expects a “tough game” when his side faces Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 22.

Potter has already faced Erik ten Hag once this season when in charge of Brighton & Hove Albion and came out victorious at Old Trafford with a 2-1 win on opening day of the 2022/2023 Premier League campaign.

Following Thomas Tuchel’s sacking, the Englishman took charge of the Blues in September. He is unbeaten in four matches as manager; winning three and drawing one.

Ten Hag has picked up form since the loss to Brighton, overseeing wins against rivals Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. United are one place behind Chelsea in the table and with only one point between the sides, the fixture has all the elements of a must-win clash.

Potter weighs in on second Ten Hag meeting

In his pre-match press conference, Potter said: “A lot [has changed since the first meeting with Ten Hag] and because I have a huge respect for Ten Hag and the job that he’s done and his career.

“They’ve done well, they’ve obviously not had a great start from their perspective but they’ve battled back and they’re getting points and they’re playing well so, it’s going to be a tough game.”

On United’s attacking threat, he added: “They’ve got the threats of Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Bruno Fernandes plays a key role for them.

They seem to have adapted to the competition, adapted to each other. They’re probably learning more about each other, it’s a normal process.”
