Owen Hargreaves waxed lyrical over new Manchester United new signing Casemiro after Wednesday night’s impressive win over Tottenham Hotspur.

In fact, the former United midfielder thinks Erik ten Hag has a new undroppable in the Brazilian, who put in one of the best performances we’ve seen from a defensive midfielder in years.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after United’s 2-0 win over, Hargreaves was quick to point out Casemiro for his impressive performance (as per Manchester Evening News):

“Eriksen needs a rest, he’s played virtually every game. Casemiro is the one that’s going to come and stay, he’s going to play all the time. Martinez with Varane and Casemiro in front with De Gea that four seems like a really solid block. I think if they can keep clean sheets with that attacking players they have, I know Ronaldo didn’t start, didn’t come on and didn’t come off the bench and wasn’t happy about it. The point is the team looked really settled today, defending, in possession and attacking so that bodes well.”

You could argue that the team looks far from settled now that Casemiro is finding his feet in the Premier League. I still think he can get better but last night he was fantastic.

Earlier this season, Scott McTominay was keeping Casemiro out of the team and you can already tell that Ten Hag isn’t a fan of fielding a midfield with them both as a duo because that would mean one less attacking player on the pitch.
