Manchester United are reportedly interested in AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and have sent scouts over to watch the star in action, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old is on the back of the best season of his career so far in 2021/2022; a Serie A winner, as well as being named Serie A Most Valuable Player, Serie A Footballer of the Year and finishing in 14th place in the 2022 Ballon d’Or rankings.
Leao also racked up 14 goals and 12 assists in 42 games across all competitions last season, which he is already looking to improve on in 2023/2023, as he has four goals and eight assists in only 13 appearances so far.
Romano confirmed via The United Stand (see video below) that the Red Devils had sent scouts to watch Leao as well as other AC Milan players. He added: “At the moment there are no direct contacts to complete this deal now, in January or in the summer. The situation is still at early stages.”
“THEY WANTED €150M…” @FabrizioRomano talks about the links between #mufc and Leao of AC Milan, but believes Milan’s valuation of the player may be more than what United are willing to pay.

Ac Milan set expensive price tag on forward
Romano also commented on the speculation regarding the forward’s pricetag, saying: “I see a lot of rumours, around 60-70 million pounds – this is not the fee to sign Rafa Leao.
“AC Milan received a verbal proposal from Chelsea at the end of the market, the final weeks of August. The answer from AC Milan was very clear, they wanted €150 million – the release clause of Leao.”
