Manchester United held an open training session in front of the press on Wednesday afternoon.

The first 15 minutes of the pre-match session allows for filming and cameras were focused on the players being put through their paces at Carrington.

As things stand, United are currently sat second in Group E of the Europa League. Erik ten Hag wants to avoid second place because of the knockout rounds play-off and to achieve that United will need to win their remaining matches against Omonia, Sheriff and Real Sociedad.

Ten Hag has already confirmed that Anthony Martial will miss the game against Omonia due to injury, so he wasn’t spotted at training this afternoon. The same applies for Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Meanwhile, Simon Peach from Press Association claims Raphael Varane was instructed to complete an individual training schedule while he returns to full fitness. The journalist tweeted: “MUFC defender Rafael Varane is doing individual training away from the main group at Carrington.”

Varane came off the bench in the closing minutes of Sunday’s 2-1 win over Everton. Ten Hag has every reason to be cautious with the French centre-back because of his unnerving track record with injuries.
