Brentford are preparing a new contract offer for Ivan Toney amid transfer interest from Manchester United.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are one of several Premier League clubs that have registered interest in signing the English striker. The others include West Ham, Newcastle, and Leeds.
Tony has yet to sign an extension on his current deal, which expires in 2025, and the report suggests he is in line for a pay rise. That would be guaranteed if he was to join a club like Manchester United – but Brentford will also try their utmost to keep Toney.
After playing a crucial role in Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League, Toney has managed to score 18 goals in 44 top-flight appearances.
Ten Hag has been limited for options in attack this season due to injuries. Anthony Martial can’t stay fit and Marcus Rashford had a knock prior to the international break, so the manager is expected to look for a new goalscorer in the summer.
It’s far from ideal to be relying on a 37-year-old, even if we are talking about Cristiano Ronaldo.
Stretty News verdict – Ivan Toney is ready for a big move
Toney is proving himself in the top-flight for a second consecutive season.
Last year, he burst onto the scene for many people and caused havoc for defenders. Brentford’s talisman did the same against United when they beat us 4-0 earlier this season, and he deserved his first call up to the England squad last month.
Wild card, this, but I'm curious to know if others feel the same.
Ivan Toney would be a good signing for #MUFC. 🤔
Far better option than Marko Arnautovic… pic.twitter.com/vDbxzeHtsK

We called it a ‘wild card’ during the summer, but Toney could be a really shrewd addition for United if we can get him at the right price.
Maybe Toney should turn down that contract that is coming his way from Brentford because there will be no shortage of interest for his signature this summer.
Toney has 6 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League so far this season, while Brentford are currently sat in 11th place.
