Manchester United got back on track in the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park. After losing the derby last weekend, it was crucial to see a response and we got that.
Antony made it three goals in as many Premier League appearances to equalise with less than 20 minutes on the clock. Then Cristiano Ronaldo went on to remind everyone of what he can still offer when he came off the bench in the first half to score his 700th club goal of his career.
That was the goal to seal the win for United.
Without further ado, we’re going to look at three observations I took from the game tonight.
Reality check for Casemiro
He might be a five-time Champions League winner, but the Brazilian is still coming to terms with life in the Premier League. He made a mistake for Everton’s opener, but it was a typical error you see from a player finding his feet in England’s top flight. Lesson number one – don’t expect to have time on the ball in the centre of the pitch because this isn’t Spain. Casemiro turned things around when his pass set Ronaldo away to put United ahead. He then grew into the game and was named man of the match on BT Sport. Likely to start against Newcastle United following Scott McTominay’s suspension.
Manchester United respond well to early setback
Although United conceded early on, our players had initiative to get back into the game before the break, unlike other games when we see United perform poorly for an entire half or even longer. The reaction of the team tonight was good. They responded well from the early setback, and we didn’t look as static as we did in previous games.
Into the record books
Antony became the first Manchester United player to score in his first 3 Premier League matches. The Brazilian is a constant threat, and I can see him scoring quite a few goals this season. Knows his role in the team like the back of his hand.
Important three points!
