Preview: Everton vs Manchester United

Manchester United will be looking to close the gap on the top four when they take on Everton in the Premier League at Goodison Park on Sunday night.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 3-2 victory over Omonia in the Europa League on Thursday night, whilst the hosts ran out 2-1 winners over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend.

Duo Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are widely expected to start against Everton after coming off the bench to score against Omonia midweek. We also have Raphael Varane back in the frame after sustaining an ankle injury in the Manchester derby.

After enduring a disappointing heavy defeat last weekend, it was pivotal United bounced against Omonia on Thursday night and whilst it may not have been perfect it was crucial United got back on the winning track and in doing so helped the Reds move a step closer to the Europa League knockout stages.

The City defeat aside, United look to have really turned a corner in recent weeks and with the Reds only four points off Chelsea in 4th place in the table its crucial United keep the pressure on and close the gap but it wont be easy.

Everton have also turned a corner and look in far better shape than they did a month or so ago.

Games against Everton in the past have never been easy and in order for United to leave with all three points they will undoubtedly have to be at their very best. With Everton been at home side they are likely to give it a real go against United and with that comes space at the back which Rashford, Martial and co can take full advantage of.

It won’t be easy but I still expect United to win this one albeit it will be close.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Manchester United
