Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score in the 3-2 win over Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League on Thursday.

The 37-year-old cut a frustrating figure in front of goal after missing a plethora of chances.

Ronaldo even hit the post after Diogo Dalot sent a low cross into the box, with the goalkeeper in no-man’s land.

Speaking to MUTV, Erik ten Hag said: “I think Cristiano Ronaldo’s shots were on target as well. The first two, good saves from the goalie.

“So he had a couple of chances, he created a couple of chances. He was involved with a good run with the first goal for Marcus Rashford, so he had an impact in this game.

“I think we created a lot of chances tonight, we count them only in the first half already 14, so there was a lot of threat to the opponent’s goal.”

It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo, who has only one goal to his name this season, will retain his place in the starting line-up to face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

My front three would consist of Antony, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
