Erik ten Hag spoke to the media at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Manchester United travel to Cyprus later today after losing 6-3 in the Manchester derby at the weekend. The manager will be demanding his players to issue an immediate response when they take on Omonia in the Europa League.
Ten Hag’s side trained at Carrington on Wednesday morning and Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire were nowhere to be seen.
Varane is nursing an injury he sustained in the derby, while Maguire has had a problem since he went on international duty.
The Dutchman was asked about the fitness of not just Varane and Maguire, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek. None of the four will be traveling to Cyprus.
“Not available for tomorrow,” Ten Hag said, as per Manchester Evening News. “In case of Raphael [Varane], I have good hope [back soon], Harry will take a little longer and the other two I cannot give [update].”
Who will start in defence vs Omonia?
We can expect Ten Hag to make changes to the team that lost against City at the weekend.
Injuries will force him to change things at centre-back, but Lisandro Martinez could keep his place. Victor Lindelof is likely to partner the Argentine.
Meanwhile at full-back, Ten Hag may opt for Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw.
