Marcus Rashford named Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

The 24-year-old is back to showing some of his best form under Erik ten Hag after having his place in the team questioned following an underwhelming 2021-22 campaign.

In September, Rashford scored two goals and registered as many assists in two appearances, and for that he claims the award for the first time since January 2019.

“Yeah, it’s a good feeling,” he told ManUtd.com.

“I think we didn’t start the season so strongly so to [then] get four wins on the bounce [in the league] is really good.

“The challenge now for us all is to maintain that and to keep winning games.

“I think everyone’s chipped in to be fair. The four wins have been good team performances and the important thing for me is that we’ve got better as time’s gone on. Hopefully we can carry on that trend and keep improving.

“It is still fairly new with the manager. We’ve got much better at doing the things that he wants us to do but there are still lots of steps we need to take. We’re all looking forward to just working hard and doing that together.”

United only played two league games in September due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, so we can’t wait to see the lads back in action this weekend.

After getting back to contributing goals in a United shirt, injury prevented Rashford from getting a call-up to the latest England squad. He will hope his luck changes between now and when the tournament starts in Qatar.

Anyhow, this is good news for Rashford because he needs a boost in confidence.

My fingers are crossed in hope he’s fit for the Manchester derby on Sunday.
