Wolves star rejected summer approach from United and Liverpool

Manchester United were linked with a move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves during the summer, but the interest wasn’t firm enough to prompt a bid for the Portuguese star.

Still, reports from Spain suggest an approach from Manchester United was pushed back by the player.

According to Catalan outlet Sport, Neves rejected an approach from United for his services in the summer. They claim Liverpool were also rejected after Neves discovered that Barcelona were interested in him.

Interest – we should add – resulted in nothing as Neves remains a Wolves player.

However, it is claimed that Neves will wait another 12 months for his move to Camp Nou, sticking it out at Molineux where he can impress ahead of the World Cup.

I’m not sure Barcelona is the best place for a midfielder to go now when you see Frenkie de Jong struggle to get into the team.

It goes without saying that De Jong is far superior than Neves, yet Barcelona have a tendency to make baffling decisions.
