De Gea faces uncertainty over United future with Pickford tipped as possible replacement

Manchester United have a decision to make on David de Gea’s future.

The Spanish goalkeeper, 31, has nine months left on his current deal but Manchester United can extend until 2024 if they want to.

According to The Telegraph, United are currently assessing their long-term plan and a change of No 1 could see England and Everton’s Jordan Pickford become a target.

De Gea has been a terrific servant to the club over the past 10 years, but I do feel as though we are reaching a new chapter with someone else between the sticks. He is the world’s highest paid keeper, yet he doesn’t quite fit the type of goalie Erik ten Hag would usually opt for due to his unwillingness to come off the line and his struggles with distribution.

Moreover, De Gea did not start the season strongly with mistakes in the first two games against Brighton and Brentford, but he has since been involved in our four-match win streak in the Premier League.

Let us know in the comments section if you think it is time to move on from De Gea.

  1. mr de Gea’s return to a gentler place for his football is long overdue. The arsenal match last season typified his attitude. He injured himself going for the same ball as another of our players, and lay FACING AWAY FROM THE PLAY, as Arsenal scored. Poor communication, cowardice and lack of team spirit just about sum up his style of play.
