Christian Eriksen voted man of the match after win over Sheriff

Manchester United eased to victory against FC Sheriff to clinch their first three points in the Europa League this season.

Both goals came in the first half with Jadon Sancho scoring the opener before Cristiano Ronaldo slotted home from the penalty spot.

Erik ten Hag opted to play his full strength side against the Moldovan outfit as Scott McTominay and Eriksen were paired together in midfield. The Dane registered an assist for his efforts and continued to dictate the tempo of the game with sheer class.

Ten Hag told club media after the match (via ManUtd.com): “We got the job done, and we know it is always difficult to play here.

“We were really direct but I also feel like we controlled the game not from the first minute but after 10 minutes we found our foot in the game and managed to create some spaces.”

As a pair, they dominated everything in the centre of the pitch and you could see yet again why McTominay is keeping Casemiro out of the line-up.

Eriksen is also becoming a fan favourite by chipping in with regular man of the match performances. It’s incredible how much of an impact he has made to our midfield, despite arriving in the summer as a free agent.

He topped the poll for best performer with 32% and was closely followed by Sancho and Ronaldo.

The 30-year-old’s influence on the side has been second to none.
