Ten Hag must go strong: predicted Man United line-up vs Sheriff Tiraspol

Manchester United are already up against it in the Europa League after losing their opening group game last week, with Real Sociedad claiming all three points at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag made a few changes to the side that beat Arsenal but several first-team regulars retained their place, including Christian Eriksen and Antony.

Sheriff Tiraspol, United’s next opponents, won their first group game and United are in desperate need of a victory as they aim to bounce back.

United’s weekend game against Leeds United has been postponed and thus, the game in Moldova will be the Reds’ final fixture before the two-week-long international break.

With most players already handed a long rest, that should encourage Ten Hag to name his strongest possible line-up. Sheriff finished third in their Champions League group last season, winning away to Real Madrid in the process – they should not be underestimated.

There are a number of fitness concerns for Ten Hag, however. Luke Shaw missed the game against Real Sociedad with a foot injury, whilst it remains unclear whether Marcus Rashford was rested or if he missed through injury.

Casemiro, who made his first start against La Real, did not look up to speed and it would not come as a surprise if Scott McTominay is drafted back into the side alongside Christian Eriksen.

Cristiano Ronaldo also endured a night to forget last week but he is unlikely to be dropped. Anthony Martial is not expected to be available.

Predicted Man United line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; McTominay, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo
