Manchester United vs Real Sociedad: Early team news

Erik ten Hag is preparing for his first Europa League clash as Manchester United manager.

Real Sociedad will visit Old Trafford on Thursday night for the opener of this season’s European competition.

The fixture comes just four days after United beat Arsenal 3-1 to ruin the Gunners’ 100 per cent record in the league. It also comes 72 hours before the Red Devils take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Ten Hag’s new signings are settling well but we can expect to see some changes to the line-up tomorrow night. Casemiro may even get his first start for the club.

As far as injuries go, Donny van de Beek missed Sunday’s game with a knock, and it remains unclear if Antony Martial will be in contention to return after sitting out with a problem for almost a month.

Phil Jones, Facundo Pellistri and Axel Tuanzebe are also on the injury list.

It’s a good opportunity for Ten Hag to give Martin Dubvraka his debut between the posts, after joining on loan from Newcastle United during last week’s deadline day.

Harry Maguire could return to the line-up, but we can also expect Victor Lindelof to get an opportunity to impress against La Real.
