Napoli have ruled out a last-minute move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli told DAZN (via Manchester Evening News): “We have a very good rapport with his agent Jorge Mendes, but there was never anything concrete between Napoli and Cristiano Ronaldo.”
As we’ve suggested throughout deadline day, Ronaldo is staying put and may feature against Leicester City tonight.
Over five hours remain in the transfer window and it would be fair to say Ronaldo didn’t get many offers after signalling that he would like to leave Manchester United this summer.
Look at that whatever way you like, but I think Jorge Mendes has a bit of egg on his face.
Hopefully Ronaldo scores tonight and we can get back to focusing on the football. Not silly season.
