Manchester United explore late deal with Barcelona for Sergino Dest

Erik ten Hag would like Manchester United to sign a new right back before deadline day.

Sky Sports have reported that Manchester United are making a late push to sign Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest. It would make a lot of sense because — as things stand — we don’t have an adequate back up option for Diogo Dalot.

Dharmesh Sheth tweeted: “Manchester United exploring the possibility of late deal for Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest. If they can secure a move, they will allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka to leave — West Ham United and Crystal Palace interested. Dest played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.”

I would hope that a recruit would even push Dalot for a place in the starting line-up. You can’t be convinced that he is the answer, but I’ll be eating my words if he performs like he did in the last two games over the course of this season. That would be a huge improvement for Dalot after being disregarded by many fans after last season.

Dest hasn’t had the best of spells at Barcelona but having played under Ten Hag at Ajax, I can understand why United are keen on signing a right back who understands the manager’s demands.

Meanwhile, reporter/Barcelona mouthpiece Gerard Romero claims the La Liga giants are keen to cash in on the 21-year-old after seeing him fall down the pecking order at Camp Nou.

Romero stresses that any more for Dest depends on whether Aaron Wan-Bissaka remains at Old Trafford.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Wan-Bissaka will leave United this summer.
