Jorge Mendes pushing Chelsea to make offer for Cristiano Ronaldo

Jorge Mendes is doing all he can to take Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United.

The Independent claims Chelsea are still searching for a new striker and add that Ronaldo’s agent, Mendes, is pushing them to bid for the 37-year-old goalscorer.

Chelsea have until Thursday to sign Ronaldo and it’s not like they have plenty of options in the transfer market.

There is a shortage of top strikers available after seeing Erling Haaland move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City, so Thomas Tuchel may have to settle for Ronaldo.

Mendes has been trying to find Ronaldo a route out of Old Trafford all summer but, as of now, United have yet to recieve a serious offer and he has a year left on his current deal.

These claims come from Miguel Delaney’s report outlining Chelsea’s revived interest in Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

Delaney reports: “Thomas Tuchel wants a focal point for his forward line but, with No.9s still at a premium, he is open to what would represent an expensive move for the Ivorian international.”

Zaha has been looking for a move away from Palace, with sources previously revealing to Stretty News that a meeting was held between his entourage and United this summer.

Obviously, nothing materialised after those talks because Zaha was never deemed a target for United, who are on the verge of signing Antony instead. A return to Old Trafford may have been on the cards if Erik ten Hag ran out of alternative options.
