Manchester United have been drawn into Group E in the Europa.
The Red Devils will be joined by Real Sociedad, FC Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia in the Europa League group stages.
Although the Europa League is a second-rate competition and we would prefer to be competing in the Champions League, let’s not forget the fond memories from our 2017 triumph under Jose Mourinho.
I certainly hope we can go on a similar journey under Erik ten Hag this season.
Moreover, the Europa League is a route into the Champions League and Ten Hag will be aware of that in his quest to bring United back to the top.
Manchester United in Group E
We took on Real Sociedad in the Europa League back in 2021 – winning 4-0 on aggregate. It looks like they will be without Alexander Isak this season, which will be a plus for anyone they face in Europe.
There are two relatively unknown forces in FC Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia, but most of you will remember the former from their win over Real Madrid in the Champions League last term.
Ten Hag should be aiming to top Group E in the Europa League this season.
