Report suggests Cristiano Ronaldo is set for Sporting Lisbon return

The speculation has been constant when it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Multiple reports suggest the Portuguese international wants to leave Manchester United for a second time in his career, just a year after re-joining the club.

There is less than one week left in the transfer window and it is believed that Ronaldo could still force a move away from Old Trafford.

But right up until now, Ronaldo’s options have been limited because his reported desire is to play in the Champions League.

According to Caught Offside, Ronaldo is on the verge of signing for his former club Sporting Lisbon. A tweet from the football news site reads: “Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of signing for Sporting Lisbon. The club are going to begin presentation preparations from tomorrow. Deal 99% done. Jorge Mendes worked around the clock to find a solution. Sporting squad have been preparing for Ronaldo’s return for weeks.”

It seems unlikely that Sporting would be able to facilitate such a deal, though I’m sure time will tell.

United are on the verge of signing Ajax winger Antony. That said, I’d suggest signing another forward player if Ronaldo leaves…
