Manchester United draw Aston Villa in Carabao Cup third round

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side will take on Aston Villa in his first domestic cup tie in England.

The draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup was streamed live on Sky Sports.

United are entering the competition at the third-round stage and will take on Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

The actual date of the upcoming cup tie has been delayed due to the season having a winter break for the World Cup in Qatar.

Manchester United in hunt for first League Cup triumph since 2017

We must go back to 2016/17 for United’s most recent triumph in the competition, and six years since we’ve last lifted a trophy. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a brace as United beat Southampton 3-2.

Last season we didn’t get past the third round after losing to West Ham at Old Trafford. Ten Hag will be hoping to go all the way in attempt to break United’s dry spell on the trophy front.

The final will be held on 26 February 2023.
