(Video) Roy Keane says Man Utd must show ‘character’ and ‘personality’

Erik ten Hag is aiming to avoid three successive defeats in charge of Manchester United on Monday evening and Roy Keane, the former club captain, has highlighted two qualities the players must show in front of frustrated supporters.

Massive protests against the club’s owners are ongoing and amid growing unrest among the fanbase, United are hardly providing a silver lining with their performances on the pitch.

Speaking ahead of the latest rendition of the stories rivalry, Keane has urged the players to show ‘character’ and ‘personality’ following a disastrous start to the season.

“He’s (Ten Hag) got to do something, he’s gotta make changes,” Keane said on Sky Sports. “We’re talking about the way they’re playing, the systems. But this team needs to show some sort of personality and character – that they can bounce back from these disappointments.

“But we’ve seen from the last year or two, they don’t seem to have it in them. I can see why you’d leave Maguire out, defensively they’ve been all over the place. Harry, he’s not been great and you have to make the changes, that’s the manager’s job.

“I always feel, Ronaldo, he’s missed pre-season and we don’t know what’s gone on in the background. You always feel you’ve got a chance, when he’s on the pitch, of scoring a goal.”
