Manchester United announce Casemiro agreement with Real Madrid

Manchester United have announced an agreement with Real Madrid over the signing of Casemiro.

We look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford once the Brazil international agrees to personal terms, sorts his UK visa and completes a medical.

A statement from Manchester United read: “Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro.

“The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical.

“Casemiro has played over 500 professional games, including 63 at international level for his native Brazil. He has won 17 major honours in his illustrious career including five Champions League titles and the Copa America.

“We all look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford.”

Casemiro has won five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles at Real Madrid after joining the club in 2013. Carlo Ancelotti explained earlier that he had a desire to open a new chapter in his career, which we are happy to say will be at United.

According to Sky Sports, United will pay £59.5m (€70m) for the 30-year-old. He is expected to arrive in the UK in the next 24 to 48 hours to sign a four-year contract, with the option to extend by a further year.

That rules him out of the Liverpool game on Monday night before any of our readers get their hopes up over a potential debut.

We can’t wait to see Casemiro in a United shirt!

SN verdict

It may be a lot to spend on a player at 30, but Casemiro can bring much needed steel to United’s midfield, and I think that is something we’ve wanted for years.

His experience will be vital in the middle of the pitch.

So will Casemiro’s aggression.
