Sancho and Martial end pre-season as United’s top scorers

Manchester United played 6 matches this summer – one in Thailand, three is Australia, one in Norway and the final friendly in Manchester.

The Reds won three of those games – drawing two and losing one – but there are lots of positives to take from pre-season.

For instance, United scored 14 goals and there will be a big chance in how we approach games moving forward. Erik ten Hag knows what he wants from his players, and I think we’ll see lots of attractive football next season.

Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial will be happy with their goals return from pre-season as they end the tour as the joint-top scorers for United – after scoring 3 goals apiece.

Sancho scored against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Martial, who many thought would be sold this summer, got on the scoresheet against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Palace.

So long as Sancho returns from the illness that kept him out of the pre-season friendly versus Atletico Madrid (via The Athletic), I think both players will start in next week’s Premier League opener against Brighton.

Fingers crossed.

The England international was arguably our best player this summer.
