Harry Maguire congratulates Lionesses after Euro 2022 triumph

Harry Maguire was one of the first to congratulate the Lionesses on their Euro 2022 triumph after beating Germany 2-1 in the final.

Wembley is buzzing right now after England’s historic victory.

The Lionesses claim their first major trophy and we were delighted to see Manchester United star Ella Toone scored a beautiful goal in the second half.

Mary Earps and Alessia Russo were also involved.

Toone broke the deadlock with a chip just six minutes after coming on from the bench.

However, Germany equalised to force extra time thanks to Lina Magull.

In extra time it was Chloe Kelly who sent Wembley into raptures with a close-range finish. It was a scrappy goal but it’s what won England their first major honour!

Harry Maguire took to Twitter after the match to congratulate Sarina Wiegman’s side, writing: “Huge congratulations to @Lionesses. Brilliant game. History made. The whole country is proud of you. Enjoy the celebrations.”

England went 56 years without a trophy for a senior England football team. And in 1966, an extra-time win over Germany/West Germany at Wembley saw the Three Lions lift the World Cup.
