Speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has dominated headlines this month and the 37-year-old has done little to ease fears that his second spell at Manchester United has come to an end.

At the start of July, it emerged that Ronaldo had asked to leave United and rumours over his exit have intensified since. Shortly afterward, he failed to turn up for pre-season training and missed the subsequent tour of Thailand and Australia.

Now, with just eight days remaining before United take on Brighton in the Premier League curtain-raiser, Ronaldo has returned to training.

Just an hour after United had lost to Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Ronaldo shared his first Carrington update on Twitter, as seen below.

Ronaldo is pictured alongside Charlie McNeill, Amad Diallo, Charlie Savage and Hannibal Mejbri – a quartet that could figure alongside him against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

United’s superstar forward has already confirmed that he will be making his return to the pitch against the Spanish outfit. The reception he receives at Old Trafford will be, to say the least, interesting.
