The season before last utd finished 2nd in league and the final of europa league. The Ronaldo joined and everything was to help him instead of the team, standing on the pitch throwing his arms about and it all started going downhill until the disastrous finish of ending 6th,get Ronnie out as soon as possible.
The problem with the 2nd/3rd thing is that they were achieved with 66/74 points, very low numbers for the positions. LVG for instance averaged 67.5 over two seasons and came 5/6th. Wally got an average of 70 (with a far better squad) and came 2/3rd. LVG also won something.
The idea that Ronaldo was the problem last season is bizarre. Note how many united fans could see that the collapse was coming but wally fans didn’t want to hear it. Easier to blame Ronaldo.
United got 31 points from losing positions the previous season. That was a good sign to wally fans. To people who understand sport -it was a sign of a bad manager.
Who was right? I have no doubt that a vast majority of “fans” who criticize Ronaldo were wally’s biggest fans. And wally fans of course know nothing about football.
