Cristiano Ronaldo slams reports over his future with response to fan page on Instagram

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back at the constant speculation surrounding his future.

The Manchester United veteran has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, but the club has hardened their stance that Ronaldo is not for sale.

With one year left on his deal, United could keep Ronaldo against his wishes for the next 12 months, though he should still be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism.

Ronaldo is understood to be frustrated after United endured a difficult season after his homecoming, finishing sixth and missing out on a place in the Champions League.

The Red Devils also went a fifth year without winning a trophy.

A Ronaldo fan page on Instagram shared a post, writing that his agent Jorge Mendes has informed United about his desire to leave, and that Sir Alex Ferguson had to intervene.

Ronaldo claims there is no truth in this report.

The most followed person on Instagram left a cryptic comment under the post to hit back at recent reports. He wrote: “Impossible not to talk about me one day. Otherwise the press makes no money. You know that if you don’t lie you can’t get people’s attention. Keep going that one day you get some news right.”

It will be interesting to see what sort of comments Ronaldo is making on social media when the transfer window shuts.

I’m still not totally convinced he will be a United player this season.
