Bruno Fernandes explains why Leeds is his favourite away fixture

Manchester United’s pre-season tour is well underway and after a brief trip to Thailand, where Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge ended with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Liverpool, they have made their way to Australia.

United scored another four goals against Melbourne Victory and less than 24 hours later, they unveiled their away kit for the upcoming season in a launch event.

Bruno Fernandes was one of the players tasked with modelling United’s new top and the midfielder, alongside Scott McTominay, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, was quizzed at the event.

The quartet were asked which Premier League away fixture they most enjoy playing in and after his teammates had chosen Liverpool and Manchester City, Fernandes picked Leeds.

“I know this is a big one for the fans and I have scored loads of goals against them. So Leeds,” Fernandes said, according to the BBC.

SN’s verdict…
In just four games against Leeds since they were promoted in 2020, Fernandes has scored a whopping six goals and his first hat-trick for the club came in last year’s Premier League curtain-raiser.

Fernandes has embraced United’s rivalry with a number of clubs, with his first Manchester derby housing a now infamous altercation with Pep Guardiola.

After escaping the drop by the skin of their teeth last season, United are set for another set of fixtures against Leeds and Fernandes will be eager to add to his goal tally. At this rate, he’ll reach double figures by United’s next tour.
