Manchester United officially confirm Christian Eriksen transfer

Erik ten Hag, who has won both of his first games in charge of Manchester United, is determined to strengthen his side’s midfield after losing two senior figures in that department.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is the club’s prime target but Christian Eriksen, the former Tottenham and Inter Milan star, has also been heavily linked with a move.

After several weeks of endless speculation, Manchester United have now finally officially confirmed the Dane’s arrival on their official website. The club has confirmed that Eriksen has signed a three-year contract after passing a medical.

United’s announcement of Eriksen comes just hours after United comfortably dispatched Melbourne Victory, with goals from Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford ensuring a sombre afternoon before an own-goal from the home side made it four.

Eriksen is not expected to join United on their tour of Australia, with just two games remaining before the side makes it way back to Europe for their final preparations.

SN’s verdict…
Eriksen’s arrival will come as a huge boost to Ten Hag, who knows the midfielder well after he trained with Ajax as part of his recovery from a cardiac arrest last year.

Last year, the mentality at United proved to be a huge issue, with the Champions League round-of-16 exit being the catalyst for a catastrophic end to the campaign.

If anything, Eriksen has shown extraordinary determination and grit to return to the Premier League since his medical emergency last year and should be lauded for catching United’s eye. It also helps that he remains one of the best in his position, as he showed over several years at Tottenham.
